carpet styles & construction
The key to a great carpet starts with fiber. Every STAINMASTER® carpet is made using strong, resilient nylon 6,6. Its unique molecular structure creates carpet with exceptional durability. One that looks extraordinary even in the highest traffic areas.

fiber, twist & density
The durability of your carpet depends on finding the right balance of three factors: fiber, twist and density.
To make a carpet, natural or synthetic fiber is converted to yarn and tufted, or locked into a backing to form the pile or surface you walk on. The five major types of carpet fiber are nylon 6,6, nylon 6, polypropylene (olefin), polyester and wool. STAINMASTER® carpet uses only the most durable and wear-resistant of all fibers, nylon 6,6.
The twist of the carpet describes the winding of the yarn on itself. The tighter the twist, the more the carpet will resist changes in appearance and texture.
Density is the amount of pile in the carpet and how close the tufts are to one another. In general, the more dense the carpet, the better the quality. Check density by pressing your fingers on the carpet and trying to reach the backing. You can also bend the carpet into a āUā shape to see how much backing shows. The less you see, the more dense the carpet.
